Is online sports betting legal in Ontario, and how does it work?

Yes. Ontario launched its regulated online sports-betting and iGaming market on April 4, 2022, and it is now the largest in Canada, with dozens of licensed operators.

How it's regulated

Operators must register with the AGCO (Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario) and operate under iGaming Ontario. They can legally offer single-game betting, live in-play wagering, props and parlays.

What to look for

Use only registered sites — they are required to follow Ontario's player-protection standards and participate in the BetGuard centralized self-exclusion system.
