The available exclusion terms are practical and flexible: Ontarians can choose to opt out for a term of 6 months, 1 year, 5 years, or a custom term. Once enrolled, players are prevented from accessing their existing accounts, creating new accounts, or receiving marketing communications from any regulated igaming site in Ontario.

All igaming operators in Ontario participate in BetGuard. Operators are also required to have their own self-exclusion program that meets the requirements set out in the Registrar's Standards for Internet Gaming. So there are actually two layers of self-exclusion available: the province-wide BetGuard system and each operator's individual site-level program.
